The Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services (DTS), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as an Applications Developer. This position will serve as a Salesforce Applications Developer. The position programs, analyzes, and runs tests on Salesforce, including documentation, diagram, and flowchart and software development procedures used to verify that Salesforce functions according to user requirements, and conforms to establishment guidelines. The position also interprets issues and recommends solutions or best practices.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the department's needs and continual meetings of expected performance measures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Creating YAML-based Azure Pipelines to automate the retrieval, validation, and deployment of Salesforce metadata.
• Integrating Apex Unit Tests, Lightning Web Components (LWC) Jest tests, and static code analysis (e.g., PMD, SonarQube) into the "Build" stage to catch bugs early.
• Implementing manual and automated approval gates in Azure DevOps to ensure only "clean" code reaches UAT or Production.
• Proactively solving complex problems.
• Developing new applications to meet functional and technical designs.
• Fixing and developing changes to applications following best practices and development standards and guidelines.
• Analyzing, debugging, and resolving defects in applications.
• Supporting production systems.
• Analyzing and resolving production problems in a timely manner.
• Resolving end user service requests as assigned.
• Completing unit and system test application changes to ensure quality of work.
Knowledge of:
• Multiple programming languages, including Salesforce, multiple database management systems, and multiple development platforms.
• Developing applications in at least one programming language.
• Departmental policies, procedures, and standards for software development
Skills In:

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Bachelor's degree and at least one year of programming and analysis experience with Salesforce applications.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 5 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
• Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.
• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement.
