Job Summary:

The Division of Business and Finance - School Facilities, is actively recruiting a School Facilities Assessor position. Under minimal supervision, performs responsible professional appraisal work in connection with examining, analyzing and evaluating real property for Minimum Adequacy Guidelines (MAG) 5 year assessment purposes.

Job Duties:
  • Collects field data; prepares drawings; transfers information into various databases for valuation and record maintenance. 
  • Extract and interpret information from a variety of sources such as blueprints, sketches, legal property descriptions, charts, tables and socio-economic trends in order to determine assessment requirements for MAG.
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and computing percentages and measurements.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, communicate orally and in writing.
  • Work in hazardous conditions such as active construction sites and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Compile and record data related to MAG assessment of real property, including narrative reports, charts, tables, detailed property descriptions, measurements and classification of improvements. The majority of these tasks are completed utilizing computer software programs.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Construction and facilities management (maintenance and operations) 
  • School finance, including state laws and budget practices 
  • School facilities standards and recommended school designs 
  • School Board policies and procedures 
  • Building codes and systems 
  • School district procurement

Skilled in:

  • Reading and interpreting construction documents including contracts, plans and specifications 
  • Use of computers including Microsoft and Google application 
  • Data analysis 
  • Development of procedures and processes 
  • Organizing work and establishing priorities 
  • Technical review including drawings/blueprint readings and interpretation

Ability to:

  • Communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing 
  • Problem solve 
  • Travel

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Background and reference check, including a state and federal criminal records check 
  • Requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driving training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
