Job Summary:

The Arizona Lottery, Security and Regulatory Division, is looking to hire a qualified Senior Investigator to join our team.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting complex data analysis for investigations and preparing written documentation of regulatory, statutory, and administrative case investigation. Developing and maintaining investigative and intelligence files;

• Conducting on-site investigations of licensed retailers, including compliance inspections and investigation of retailer rule violations;

• Ensuring lottery facilities have adequate security measures in place, including providing for building access control and video surveillance, and conducting risk assessments;

• Conducting background investigations for licensing and on vendors, contractors, and other personnel as needed;

• Verifying ticket authenticity for all High-Tier winning tickets and assisting with ticket verification;

• Providing quality customer service to lottery players and retailers;

• Providing verification of drawing services;

• Acting as the Lottery Draw Manager/backup Draw Manager when required during the duty schedule rotation.

Candidates invited to an interview will be tested for typing skills and computer literacy knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Requires knowledge of:

• Federal and state laws and their application, including preparatory offenses and Lottery rules and policies;

• Procedures and practices of court proceedings;

• The criminal justice system, including legal documents and required investigation documentation;

• Computers, telephones, standard business equipment, Lottery computers and Lottery game terminals;

• Google Suites.


Requires skills in:

• Comprehensive report writing, including the production of timely and accurate reports and documentation;

• Excellent oral communication skills;

• Effective methods and techniques of undercover law enforcement work and surveillance;

• Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, the Internet, and database input and retrieval.


Requires the ability to:

• Ability to apply criminal investigation methods, techniques, procedures and practices;

• Ability to interpret and apply, criminal or regulatory laws of a complex nature appropriate to agency;

• Able to apply case management and lead techniques;

• Ability to gather, compile and preserve detailed evidence in preparation of civil and/or criminal proceedings.

Selective Preference(s):

• Previous Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training certification which has not been suspended, revoked or subject to current disciplinary action.

• Minimum of three years of experience as a criminal investigator with a law enforcement agency.
