Job Summary:

The Senior Research Manager will manage activities of the statewide tourism research program overseen by the agency's director of research to include management of various agency research activities including tracking, reporting and communicating all Arizona data that relates to tourism.

Additionally the Senior Research Manager will develop and monitor internal performance measures, conduct primary and secondary marketing research and analysis related to key strategic marketing initiatives and tourism related indicators, and coordinate in-house research projects.

Job Duties:

• Manage research options of the Rural Marketing Cooperative Program. This includes working with vendors to provide valuable and affordable data options, and communicating the benefits to communities

• Drafts contracts, collaborates on writing survey instruments, ensures data Quality, and acts as the research liaison between external stakeholders, vendors and the office

• Manage the Research and Resources section of tourism.az.gov, providing the most up-to-date and accurate monthly indicator reports and annual profiles/research documents 

• Analyze research/data and communicate through webinars, in-person presentations, profile sheets, etc. Ensure data quality in agency dashboards and publications

• Operational functions for the Research Division including vendor contract management, performance management, procurement and accounting

• Work with PIO to answer media requests and communicate research insights and trends

• Answer research inquiries from the general public and tourism organizations

• Inform and prepare agency staff and leadership for presentations

• Other duties as assigned as related to the position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Minimum of four years previous research experience and/or a BA or BS Degree in tourism development, business, marketing or related area

• Minimum of four years increasingly responsible experience in destination marketing, hospitality or travel industry experience preferred

Skills:

• Strong written and communication skills, with the ability to communicate ideas in a professional manner to all levels of the organization and industry

• Excellent time management skills including the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and prioritize multiple projects

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent and high-priority tasks

• Excellent writing and presentation skills

• Strong public speaking skills

Ability:

• Ability to work independently, as well as complete assignments and projects in a team environment

• Experience with Tableau, SPSS or other statistical/visualization software is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft, Adobe and G Suite products

 
Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment
