Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced leader with an accomplished background in research studies and statistical analyses. This position oversees and supervises the research and statistical information services function for the department.

Job Duties:

- Manages the research studies and statistical analyses of the agency’s staff and incarcerated individuals
- Interprets and makes recommendations with those findings
- Analyzes pending legislation for potential impacts on incarcerated individuals
- Oversees the appropriate distribution of assignments and workload
- Confer with the Budget Administrator to identify goals, objectives, and functional responsibilities for the unit priorities
- Coordinates the completion of periodic recidivism studies and the development of new methods of risk assessment for incarcerated individuals
- Assists in the implementation of new and improved offender classification strategies
- Revises inmate population forecast and supporting data as necessary for budget and bed planning purposes
- Monitors trends in indicators of inmate population growth
- Prepares correspondence and reports as appropriate
- Consults with the Bureau Administrator and Executive Management in the interpretation of the findings
- Attends staff meetings
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

- Research design and methodology

- Personal computer, microcomputer applications, and applicable software (Microsoft Office and Google Workspace)

- Criminal justice and corrections theory and practices
- State and federal laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to this assignment

Selective Preference(s):

- Five (5) years of professional experience in either applied research or university
- Master’s degree in justice studies, sociology, criminal justice, criminology, or a related field
- One (1) year in advanced statistics and/or research methods
- Statistical software such as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences/Personal Computer (SPSS/PC) or Statistical Analysis System (SAS)
- Doctorate’s degree or/and training in graduate-level statistics, psychometrics, criminal justice research, educational measurement, or program evaluation

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
