- The Special Research Intern will join our team for a minimum of 46 weeks, working up to 20 hours each week.

- The Special Research Intern provides research, advice, and consulting regarding complex biomedical topics such as biomedical research and clinical trials on various natural curatives, homeopathic treatments, and substances.
- This position involves researching and reporting on uses of psychedelics and/or hallucinogens like Psilocybin, Ibogaine, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), Mescaline, 3-methoxy-4,5-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MMDA or Ecstasy), and other substances, to treat various emotional, psychological, or medical disorders.
- You may be asked to establish and maintain quality contacts with external pharmacological, psychological, neurological, and medical professionals and sources.
- You may be a public-facing member of the team.
- You will be called to visit medical facilities, scientific facilities, and higher education research laboratories, to work contact researchers, medical professionals, and subject matter experts across multiple topics such as the safety and efficacy of marijuana, psilocybin, and ibogaine, to treat various medical, psychological, and neurological conditions.
- You may be asked to conduct academic research on a variety of biomedical topics.
- You will assist in the review and evaluation of grant applications for scientific and research projects.
- You will assist in preparing written reports on research findings, provide content for legislatively required annual reports and websites.
- You may make oral reports to various public bodies such as the Psilocybin Research Advisory Council.
- You will assist with the review and scoring of research grant applications.
- You may actively participate in the planning of events such as the annual ABRC-Flinn Foundation Research Conference, the U of A’s reImagine Health Conference, or the annual Arizona Cord Blood Conference.
• Completed coursework in public health, or science.
• Ability to represent topics clearly and effectively with individuals, or in front of groups of people.
• A self-starter mentality and an ability to work independently with only little to moderate supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using the Google Workspace, including Google Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive. Or, experience using the equivalent Microsoft applications.
• Solid time management, organization, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat software.
• Ability to troubleshoot and identify potential technical challenges.
Working towards or recently completing a graduate degree and a possess a strong desire to develop beyond the classroom and put your knowledge to work. Creativity, curiosity, and persistence!
Education in Biochemistry, especially medical chemistry; Pharmaceutical Sciences; experience researching psychedelic substances; and knowledge of medical and research professionals connected to psychedelic substance research and treatments.
Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. • Exposure to the field of biomedical research, research grant application administration, clinical trials, public policy, public health administration, and knowledge on a wide variety of non-traditional treatments and substances.

• Exposure to health care providers, researchers, scientists, and public health professionals.
• A portfolio and resume packed with exciting physical and digital materials, experiences addressing the public, health care professionals, and researchers, policy makers, and the general public.
• Knowledge of the oversight and administration of public health research programs;
• Experience in contributing to legislatively mandated reports;
• Review of highly technical biomedical grant applications;
• Experience in publicly presenting scientific materials;
• Experience in hosting large-scale hybrid (in-person and virtual) events; and
• Experience working in a collaborative environment with a diverse team of professionals.
