This position independently conducts partial or comprehensive occupational safety and health inspections in all types of industries throughout Arizona to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and all standards and rules issued pursuant to the Act.
Writes details and accurate reports describing the findings of the inspections. Provides occupational safety and health information and instructions to employees and employers as requested. Maintains equipment utilized for evaluation of workplace hazards.

This position works under the general supervision of a first-line supervisor.

This position is responsible for conducting inspections which includes: walkaround inspection to gain knowledge of the hazards within the workplace, take written notes and conduct employee and management interviews to determine exposure to hazards. In addition, prepare for the inspections by reviewing the employer's history; researches industry practices and safety measures; writes complete and accurate reports of the inspections; reviews safety and health programs and conducts a closing conference;

2. Industrial Commission of Arizona Policies and Procedures
3. ADOSH policies, procedures, and rules
4. OSHA Information System (OIS)
5. Knowledge of the OSHA standards, Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Codes as well as consensus standards
6. Occupational safety and health hazard recognition (e.g. unsafe trenching practices, fall hazards, electrical hazards, machine guarding) and their potentials for causing injury and/or illnesses
7. Effective methods for eliminating or controlling occupational safety and health standards
8. Windows, Google Suit, Excel, Word and Google suites.

The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor's degree in a related safety and/or health field from an accredited college or university OR Six years of work-related industrial safety experience providing a broad industrial safety knowledge base including general industry, construction and agriculture and appropriate training courses and seminars specific to the field of industrial safety.

Candidates must have met the requirements to conduct PSM audits, to include 3 years in the field in addition to completing two mandatory federal run OSHA OTI classes.

Arizona Driver's License:
Must possess valid Arizona Driver's License. Required In-state and out-of-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must complete any required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207 (12). Employees may be required to use their own transportation, as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
