Conduct/lead State licensing surveys and complex complaint investigations for child care facilities. Provide or lead training for technical assistance to child care providers and consumers of services; conduct fire inspections and/or sanitation inspections of child care facilities; write legal orders related to enforcement actions to be taken against regulated child care facilities; testify at formal appeal hearings; serve as a preceptor for new surveyors; audit records and public files; assist team leaders in reviewing patient/client and quality for care assessment issues in licensing surveys and complaint investigations; and participate in quality assurance/process improvement activities.
- Conduct/lead surveys of facilities to verify compliance with State licensing regulations and to ensure the health, welfare and safety of consumers, clients; conduct/lead complex complaint investigations of facilities.
- Write field trip reports, statements of deficiencies, and legal orders related to surveys and completed complaint investigations.
- Provide technical assistance to providers relating to the requirements for State licensing and the complaint investigation process. Serve as a resource for providers, public, other governmental agencies, ombudsmen and health care professionals regarding State licensing.
- Participate in quality assurance/performance improvement activities.
- Conduct audits of records and public files; testify in hearings; participate in enforcement meetings with division management and providers.
- Precept new employees.

- Verbally communicating statutory, rule and regulations requirements and findings associated with a survey in a formal or informal environment (Strong communication and articulate).

- Enforce and apply state laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to child care facility licensing and linked survey processes.
- Learn, interpret, and apply the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to child care facilities, and applicable State and local standards for fire protection, sanitation, zoning, occupancy standards, and building codes as they apply to child care facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field, OR; professional license/certificate and 3 years professional level experience in a child care field, preferably regulated child care facilities. Master's degree may substitute for 1 year experience.

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issues pursuant to A.R.S. §36-113.
