Job Summary:

Our Application Manager is responsible for managing a group of developers and Application Support Team to deliver solutions on cloud architecture. Application managers are responsible for building partnerships and liaising with team leaders to determine services, the criteria for the delivery of those services, and how to develop solutions to any issues that arise.

Serving in this role requires an individual to be a self-starter, working both independently and as a team member. Strong communication skills in interfacing with agency partners and the IT community are required. They must have significant business knowledge application managers are expected to mentor and coach less experienced staff and provide knowledge transfer across the organization.

Bi-Lingual Stipend

DCS offers a Bi-Lingual Stipend to all interested and eligible DCS Employees who successfully complete a language proficiency exam.  Qualifying employees will receive a $500 annual stipend paid in equal increments.

Job Duties:

- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure smooth and reliable delivery of software and systems to fulfill business objectives, support business processes, and ensure business continuity. Integrating new solutions on existing cloud services.
- Creates and promotes a productive work environment, ensuring that necessary skills and competencies are in place to meet the goals of the unit.
- Facilitates/Leads planning sessions with Business relationship manager.
- Manages professional employees and/or supervises medium to large, complex technical or business support or production operations team(s).
- Makes decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plans; receives guidance from senior manager.
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
- Provides leadership to supervisors and/or professional staff. Lead team of developers and quality engineers with performance management and AMS.
- May provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Broad and generally deep understanding of all facets of management and leadership, as well as a vision for the specific business program/function being managed.
- Thorough working knowledge of most infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications utilized in the enterprise.
- Thorough working knowledge of the organization’s methodologies and tools.
- Thorough working knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Thorough working knowledge of interrelationships among various internal and external organizational functions.
- Knowledge of Azure Cloud architecture.
- Experience with managing platforms and solutions in cloud environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, OnBase, InRule, Scribe, DocuSign all a plus.

Skill in:

- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Expert system administration and leadership skills.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 or more years of related experience in related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Pre-Employment Requirements:

The ability to secure and maintain a Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card; and the ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

In-state travel is sometimes required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).

BA/BS in Computer Science or related experience.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
