What You'll Do:

  • Work in partnership with teams across the agency to develop business intelligence solutions using data from several different data systems.   

  • Work with business users to define new and existing requirements for reports and dashboards as well as identify gaps in data, logic, and business understanding.

  • Design, build and maintain new, high-quality Tableau dashboards to translate data into easily accessible analytics that inform planning, measure progress, and enhance program operational performance.

  • Develop queries, analyze metrics sources, monitor data quality, and maintain dashboard performance.  

  • Identify and apply best practices for data visualization and data sharing using Tableau.

  • Communicate effectively with technical and business partners to identify needs, assist users, and resolve their questions.

  • Be a part of our agency’s growing Visual Analytics team.

 

Job Duties:

- Uses Tableau to develop queries, reports and dashboards to assist in analyzing issues, applying best practices in data analytics and visualization and verifying that standards for quality and confidentiality are met.
- Partners with internal and external customers to gather and validate business requirements in support of Tableau dashboard design and functionality.
- Participates in and supports work planning processes for creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards and Tableau server content in an effective and efficient way.
- Assists in designing, developing, and delivering end-user training and associated resource materials for Tableau developers or other agency program staff.
- Assists in data stewardship and data governance activities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field that works with data analytics (preferred).

  • Combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. 5 - 6 years of relevant experience required. 1 year of work experience may be substituted for each year of preferred education.

  • Experience in healthcare or public health (preferred).

  • Tableau certification (Certified Associate or Certified Professional) (preferred).

 

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Driving is required for State Business. 

  • Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).

  • Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment. You will be required to pay an $8.25 fee for fingerprint screening. If hired, you will be able to request reimbursement of the $8.25.

Retirement:

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will make a contribution to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27 week wait period for contributions to begin.
