Performs laboratory test on soils & aggregates samples to ensure that materials used on state construction projects are in compliance with the specifications and/or provide preliminary engineering data to the Geotechnical section. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of assigned projects and complete documentation of all phases of assignment. Responsible for proper use, operation, maintenance, calibration and repair of assigned equipment.
Perform Laboratory tests on Soils & Aggregates. Know and perform various test during the AMRL inspection every 18 months interval.
Enter laboratory data on test cards and into the computer daily. Perform mathematical computations.
Perform and assist with minor calibration on laboratory equipment. Perform document and record routine maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
Technical training for self and be able to coach/mentor other employees. Expand technical knowledge, test methods and testing skills/ability to prepare for any promotional opportunities. Keep current on mandatory training.
Clean laboratory work area and equipment daily. may drive a State Vehicle in the course and scope of performing state business.
ADOT's Construction Materials Testing and Acceptance Standards and Practice
AASHTO, ASTM, and Arizona Test Methods, Knowledge of soil and aggregate characteristics and physical properties
Personal computer, software particularly Excel, MS Word and Central Materials Testing Program (CMTP) and FAST
Mathematics and computations
Laboratory sample preparation and testing
Perform several tasks at the same time
Mentoring and training other employees
ATTI Soils and Aggregates and strong background in laboratory sciences. Strong background in Soils and Aggregates testing. Competent in mathematics.
A physical is required
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
