Performs skilled electrical and electronic inspection of traffic signals, roadway illumination, and Freeway Management System (FMS) components such as Fiber Optic Cables, CCTV cameras and related devices on highway construction projects. Works under the general supervision of a Resident Engineer, and/or Project Supervisor. Recommends acceptance or denial of the inspected items based on project documents and discussions with stakeholders and contractors. Communicates and develops win-win scenarios to resolve construction issues with project stakeholders while maintaining quality final work. Completes daily documentation to record completed events, work and issues that occurred on the project site. Travels as required.
Read and interpret electrical plans, special provisions, supplemental agreements, standard specifications and drawings and electrical codes applicable to project work
Inspect and sample quality and quantity of electrical materials, components and workmanship on highway construction projects. Enforce safety precautions
Record man power, equipment, materials, work performed and pay items completed in Pen dally diaries
Confer with ADOT employees, consultants, and contractors ta answer questions and resolve issues at the lowest level possible
Performs other related work as required

A bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related curriculum, or work in a closely related field (electrician, telecommunications, electrical contractor, FMS maintenance/installation) may substitute for the required experience. One year of experience as a Traffic Signal and Lighting Technician 1. Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, ski lis, and abilities may be substituted.
A Physical is required
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
