Confers with managers and supervisors performing more complex construction projects, assists Senior Resident Engineer on highly complex construction projects. Work involves engineering analysis, highway or structures design, traffic engineering, maintenance, construction, or traffic engineering, which includes supervision of administrative units or function; OR acts as one of a small number of technical staff experts engaged in professional engineering consultative work requiring possession of special knowledge and application of engineering practices, and representing the agency before the public and other agencies, consultants, and contractors.

Provide engineering and technical direction for the administration of more complex construction projects or assists senior residents on multiple highly complex construction contracts, (design, construction, and maintenance of transportation projects), ensures work is performed that provides a functional, durable project that meets design intent at a reasonable cost.
Assist senior resident engineer with input on project scope, designs and development. Initiate procedures, monitoring project processes for contractor payment, quantity documentation (Davis development meetings and other meetings related to the ADOT state highway system) labor compliance, training requirements, and affirmative action.
Provides administrative management duties including personnel management, EPAS, discipline, hiring authority, and other administrative duties as required. Coordinate construction activities with federal, state, local and private entities to assure conflicts are minimized. Initiate communication with all affected stakeholders on matters that affect them.
Provides leadership, coaching and supervision of subordinate personnel, assure compliance with all applicable plans, specifications, rules, requirements, and related contracted documents. May operate a State vehicle in the course and scope of conducting State business. Initiate and monitor training of subordinate personnel.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Valid driver's license - This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
Arizona PE Licensure is required for this position. A candidate who holds an active PE in another state will be required to meet registration requirements set forth by the Arizona Technical Board of Registration and attain an Arizona PE from the Board within 6 months of employment start date.
