Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the traffic standard engineer, drafts standard drawings using Micro Station . Develop sign /sign templates using SignCAD. Analysis or collect data for developing special provisions, policies, guidelines and standard drawings . Review manuals and documents . Occasionally requiring travel. Review project plans and documents for compliance review . This position has no regularly assigned supervisory responsibilities.

Job Duties:

Draft traffic engineering documents using Computer Aided Drafting and Design [CADD) software, including Micro station and Sign CADD

Attend traffic and safety subcommittee meeting and Technical issues meeting

Collect engineering data for developing traffic design related documents

Review technical documents /reports/ manual including MUTCD, FHWA documents, Technical testing certificate, and Product specification

Analyze field/survey data to facilitate logical interpretation of data

Prepare meeting minutes and meeting notes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

Drafting standards

Data collection techniques

Agency policies, procedures, and standards

Skills in:

Oral and written communications

Organizing and prioritizing work assignments

Team building and team functions

Computer applications, including Microstation and SignCAD

Ability to:

Listen and problem solving

Read and interpret engineering documents

Time management

Complete and deliver task on schedule and budget

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with ADOT Groups and Departments and project stakeholders

Selective Preference(s):

Should have experience in Microstation and SignCAD

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
