Job Summary:

The Video Production Specialist is a member of the ADOA Communications team with primary responsibility for generating ideas for video projects for the Communications team, executing shoots, and performing post-production activities.

Job Duties:
  • Executes video shoots on site/on location including audio, camera operation and talent directions. Additionally handles assignments requiring special lighting, multiple locations, creativity, special audio needs, custom motion graphics. Scouts shoot locations and assess possible obstacles in filming and provide solutions or alternatives. 
  • Assists Communications team in writing scripts for interviews and storyboarding. Generates ideas for video projects for the Communications team. Conducts interviews with staff and stakeholders and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured. 
  • Plans and performs video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, adding photographs, motion graphics, animation, audio and music, and final editing. Makes video products available in a variety of formats; observes brand standards, ensures consistency and relevance to production. Monitors technical quality of videos and coordinates internal and external duplication services as required. Oversees the production of closed captions for videos. 
  • Operates the drone for aerial video shoots. Operates camera for live video shoots at various events. Maintains equipment inventory and production schedules. Maintains, organizes and archives photo and video asset folders. Manages YouTube channels for upload and download. 
  • Assists Communication team in writing articles, social media blurbs and announcements for digital and web content. Works with the team in uploading web content in agency managed websites and social media platforms. 
  • Stays informed about the current state of and future advances in video production technology and video distribution. Recommends new video support systems and hardware and software technologies based on analysis of agency needs. Participates in projects to integrate new video technologies and testing new hardware and software. 
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Basic principles of videography, photography, graphics design, and composition techniques 
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects 
  • Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud software tools 
  • Basic knowledge of website content maintenance and social media platforms 
  • State government and department organizational structure

Skilled In:

  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships 
  • Oral and written communications
  • Organization, time management, coordination and research 
  • Public speaking 
  • Editing, proofreading, using proper spelling and grammar 
  • Utilize various software including Google Suite 
  • Operating and maintaining video and related equipment

  • Prioritize, plan, analyze and coordinate activities 
  • Manage all phases of video production
Selective Preference(s):
  • Drone pilot license preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Background and reference check, including fingerprint check 
  • Requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driving training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
